Croatia’s net electricity production in April 2026 totaled 1,003 GWh, according to short-term energy statistics published by the Croatian Bureau of Statistics. The figure marked a 17% year-on-year decline compared with 1,209 GWh recorded in April of the previous year.
Generation mix and renewable output
Hydropower plants produced 400 GWh, accounting for 39.9% of total electricity output. Thermal power plants generated 76 GWh, or 7.6%. Wind farms contributed 300 GWh (29.9%) and solar power plants generated 154 GWh (15.4%).
Electricity trade flows in April
Croatia imported 1,136 GWh of electricity during the same period. That volume was 21.4% higher than in April 2025, when imports were 936 GWh. Electricity exports fell to 679 GWh, a 5% year-on-year decrease from 715 GWh in April 2024.
Natural gas and crude oil production indicators
In the hydrocarbons segment, natural gas production reached 58 million cubic meters in April 2025, up 1.8% year-on-year. Natural gas imports rose to 183 million cubic meters, increasing by 7.6% compared with April 2025 levels referenced in the statistics.
Crude oil production remained unchanged at 38,000 tons, matching the previous year’s level. Petroleum product output increased to 310,000 tons in April 2025, up from 290,000 tons in the same month last year.
