Serbia’s SEEPEX day-ahead market posted its highest monthly trading volume in September, alongside higher average electricity prices compared with August. Turnover reached 579,406.3 MWh, up 5.9% month on month and 26.6% year on year. Average daily volume was 19,313.5 MWh.

Day-ahead price levels and peak-period discount

The monthly baseload price increased by 9.7% to €150.01/MWh. The euro-peak average rose 14.1% to €131.83/MWh. Peak-period electricity remained cheaper than the full-day average, indicating that the higher monthly prices did not remove the discount during conventional daytime delivery hours.

Intraday trading volume and pricing

The intraday market traded 5,801 MWh at an average price of €181.76/MWh. Its intraday volume was equivalent to about 1% of day-ahead turnover, leaving the day-ahead auction as the dominant trading venue. The intraday average also reflected a higher cost level for adjusting positions closer to delivery.

Market role in Serbian wholesale trading

The September record reinforced SEEPEX’s position in Serbian wholesale electricity trading activity. Higher intraday pricing levels were recorded alongside the day-ahead volume increase and the rise in average electricity prices from August.
