The Albanian Government has officially sanctioned the construction of a significant solar power facility, which is set to have a capacity of 95 MW. This project, located in the village of Synej in central Albania, represents a critical advancement in the country’s ongoing efforts to enhance its renewable energy infrastructure and reduce reliance on fossil fuels.

Select Energy, a special purpose vehicle established locally, will execute the project. The company is tasked with completing the construction and operationalization of the solar plant within a strict three-year timeframe. This timeline reflects the government’s commitment to accelerating renewable energy deployment in the region.

Upon completion, Select Energy will manage the solar facility for a duration of up to 49 years. This long-term operational agreement illustrates Albania’s strategic focus on fostering private investment and scaling up renewable energy generation. The decision aligns with broader regional trends aimed at increasing sustainability and energy independence through expanded solar capacity.

As Albania continues to develop its renewable energy sector, this initiative is expected to contribute significantly to the national grid and support the country’s climate goals. The approval of this solar project marks an important step towards achieving a more sustainable energy future in Southeast Europe.
