The most significant drop occurred in the Spanish market, which experienced a decline of 5.2%, marking its third consecutive week of reduced demand. Other major markets, including Germany, Italy, and Great Britain, also reported decreases for the second week in a row, with demand falling by 3.4%, 2.4%, and 0.9%, respectively. Meanwhile, Portugal saw a reversal from the previous week’s upward trend with a decline of 1.6%, while demand in Belgium remained relatively stable. In contrast, France noted a slight increase of 0.5%, countering the previous week’s downturn.
The observed reductions in electricity demand can be attributed primarily to milder average temperatures across most regions, which increased by between 0.5 °C in France and 2.5 °C in Germany. However, there were exceptions; Great Britain recorded a minor temperature drop of 0.1 °C, while Belgium‘s temperatures fell by 1.6 °C.
