Solar output rises in France and Italy while Germany and Spain see declines

In the week of June 8, solar photovoltaic (PV) generation increased across most major European electricity markets versus the previous week. France posted the largest rise at 8.8%, followed by Italy with a 4.7% increase. Portugal recorded a smaller gain of 0.9%, the lowest among the markets analyzed.

Solar generation fell in both Germany and Spain, extending a second consecutive week of declines in those two key markets. Germany saw the steepest drop at 10%, while Spain declined by 2.7%. The changes were measured against the prior week.

Forecasts for solar production into the week of June 15

Wind generation trends during the second week of June

During the second week of June, wind energy production rose in most major European electricity markets. Germany recorded the largest increase at 32%, marking a third consecutive week of growth. Italy increased by 10%, while Spain rose by 15%, continuing an upward trend for a second straight week.

Wind output declined in Portugal and France during the same period. Portugal fell by 7.2%, while France recorded a sharper drop of 27%. The figures point to differing wind conditions across countries.

AleaSoft outlook for wind in the third week of June

For the third week of June, AleaSoft Energy Forecasting expects wind energy production to decline across all analyzed European markets. AleaSoft reports that this would indicate weaker wind generation conditions across the continent.
