Hungary has extended the settlement deadline for households participating in a solar energy support programme financed under the EU’s Recovery and Resilience Facility (RRF) until 30 September 2026. The measure is part of Hungary’s broader use of EU recovery funding for residential energy investments. Rural Development Minister Viktória Lőrincz said the additional time is intended to address cases where installations could not meet the original deadline.
Deadline extension covers unfinished projects
The extension applies to projects that have not yet been completed. This includes situations where solar installations were delayed due to administrative bottlenecks or other implementation-related issues that affected execution timelines. Lőrincz said the extra period is meant to support applicants whose installations are close to completion but were unable to finish on time due to external delays.
Advance payment recovery tied to contractor responsibility
The government also clarified how delays linked to third parties will be handled. Responsibility for delays caused by contractors or service providers will remain with those companies. In such cases, any recovery of advance payments will be directed at the service providers rather than at participating households, protecting end beneficiaries from financial penalties.
RRF-backed residential solar investment programme
The programme supports residential solar energy investments across Hungary. It is funded through the EU’s Recovery and Resilience Facility, which targets green transition investments and energy system modernization. The deadline extension therefore applies within an RRF-financed framework for household solar support.
