Croatia’s ENNA Group plans to acquire a 166 MW solar power project and a 612 MWh battery energy storage facility near Medgidia in Constanța County, Romania. The transaction would involve the entire project company, which is owned by CIC Green Energy Medgidia. The acquisition would expand ENNA’s renewable investment programme in Central and Eastern Europe.
The development covers around 204 hectares, with construction scheduled to start in the first quarter of 2027. Commercial operations are planned for early 2028, and annual solar generation is estimated at around 265.9 GWh. The deal is subject to Romanian foreign-investment screening and competition approvals.
ENNA’s Romanian solar and storage portfolio
ENNA acquired another solar-plus-storage development in Romania, at Mihăilești, in 2025. It combines 87.52 MW of photovoltaic capacity with a planned 140 MWh battery system. Commercial operation is targeted for April 2027.
If both developments are completed, ENNA’s Romanian portfolio would total 253.52 MW of solar capacity and 752 MWh of battery storage. The company is also examining further acquisitions and partnerships as it builds its regional portfolio. Its principal targets include projects close to construction or at advanced development stages.
