In the week of September 16, electricity demand across major European markets exhibited a mixed trend, contrasting with the downward trajectory observed in the previous week. Great Britain saw the most significant increase, with demand rising by 3.0%. Portugal followed closely, experiencing a 2.1% increase for the second consecutive week. Belgium and France recorded smaller gains, with increases of 0.8% and 0.1%, respectively.
Meanwhile, the Spanish market maintained steady demand compared to the previous week. In contrast, Italy, Germany, and the Netherlands experienced decreases. Italy’s demand fell for the third week in a row, dropping by 4.6%, while Germany and the Netherlands saw reductions of 2.3% and 2.1%, respectively.
Average temperatures rose in most of the analyzed markets, with increases ranging from 2.9 °C in France to 4.0 °C in the Netherlands. Conversely, Italy, Spain, and Portugal reported slight declines in average temperatures, dropping by 2.1 °C, 0.6 °C, and 0.4 °C, respectively.
Looking ahead to the week of September 23, forecasts from AleaSoft Energy Forecasting indicate that demand will rise in Germany, France, Belgium, the Netherlands, and Great Britain. In contrast, a decrease in demand is expected in the Iberian Peninsula and Italy, AleaSoft reports.
