Albania has officially greenlighted the development of a significant 600 MW wind farm in the vicinity of Tropoje, marking a pivotal advancement in its renewable energy sector. This initiative is spearheaded by CWP Europe and represents one of the largest wind energy investments announced in Albania to date.
The Albanian authorities have set an ambitious timeline for the project, with expectations for construction and commissioning to be finalized within approximately twelve months. This rapid development schedule positions the Tropoje wind farm as one of the fastest large-scale wind projects in the Southeastern European region.
This wind farm is a key component of a broader investment strategy valued at around €1.1 billion, which aims to bolster clean energy infrastructure across the Western Balkans. In addition to the Tropoje wind project, CWP Europe is also planning to establish a 400 MW solar power plant equipped with battery energy storage in Montenegro, known as the Montecevo project.
These developments underscore a significant trend towards increased utility-scale renewable energy projects in Southeastern Europe. Both governmental bodies and private investors are actively working to expand clean generation capabilities, thereby enhancing regional energy security and sustainability.
