Slovenia has launched a new corporate energy storage support scheme within its 2026–2029 Development Program Plan. The programme allocates €10 million from the Climate Change Fund to accelerate the green transition and expand deployment of battery storage. The measure is aimed at supporting corporate adoption of storage technologies.
Funding and eligibility under the corporate storage framework
The initiative follows demand from businesses that responded to an earlier public call for storage subsidies, which closed earlier this year. That previous call received 264 applications, while requested funding exceeded the available budget of nearly €17 million. The new scheme is structured to address that level of interest.
Under the new framework, companies can receive subsidies covering up to 45% of eligible investment costs. Financial support is capped at €225 per kWh of installed storage capacity. Authorities said the design is intended to improve project bankability and support faster uptake of battery systems in the corporate sector.
Expected participation and policy objectives
Government estimates indicate that 300 to 500 companies could benefit from the programme. The number would depend on project size and investment scale. Officials said the measure forms part of broader efforts to decarbonize the economy, reduce reliance on fossil fuels, and strengthen energy independence for businesses.
The authorities also expect the programme to encourage further electrification of industrial processes and improve overall energy efficiency. It is also intended to support greater integration of renewable energy into corporate energy systems across Slovenia.
