Greenvolt, a Portuguese renewable energy company, is progressing with plans for a substantial wind power initiative in central Serbia. This development comes as the Serbian authorities commence a preliminary environmental review to assess the project’s compliance with regulatory standards.
The Ministry of Environmental Protection in Serbia has initiated a screening procedure to evaluate whether the proposed wind farm will necessitate a comprehensive environmental impact assessment. This project is being spearheaded by WPP Black Mud, a local entity operating under the Greenvolt Power Group umbrella.
Named the Crni Kao and Rujiste wind project, this development is slated for the municipality of Ražanj. The site is projected to cover around 1,134 hectares and has the potential to house up to 25 wind turbines, collectively generating an estimated capacity of approximately 180 MW. This represents a notable enhancement to Serbia’s renewable energy capacity.
Current projections indicate that construction could commence within this year, with commissioning aimed for 2027. These timelines are contingent upon the results of the permitting process and subsequent regulatory requirements.
WPP Black Mud was founded in 2022 and operates as a wholly-owned subsidiary of Greenvolt Power Group, which is based in Poland. The company is actively engaged in renewable energy development across various European markets, expanding its portfolio of wind and solar projects.
