Nala Renewables has commissioned the 99.2 MW Green Breeze wind farm in Romania, with the project beginning commercial operation. The development is located in Galați county and adds to a growing pipeline of wind generation backed by corporate offtake arrangements. Electricity from the facility will be supplied to Apple under a long-term power purchase agreement.
Project technology and turbine configuration
The Green Breeze project uses 16 Vestas V162 turbines. Each turbine has a capacity of 6.2 MW, for a total installed capacity of 99.2 MW. The contracted supply structure is designed to provide corporate demand through the long-term agreement with Apple.
Construction timeline and delivery partners
Construction of the wind farm began in November 2024. Nala Renewables carried out the work together with the Romanian operations of Swedish renewable developer OX2. Green Breeze is described as Nala’s largest project developed through to commercial operation.
For OX2, Green Breeze is its first completed Romanian project since entering the market around five years ago. Commissioning follows the completion of construction activities that started in late 2024.
Corporate PPA context in Romania
The commissioning is presented as additional evidence of Romania’s emergence as a stronger market for corporate PPAs and privately financed renewable generation in southeastern Europe. The project’s long-term contract with Apple links the wind output to contracted corporate demand rather than direct exposure to wholesale market volatility.
