The Montenegrin energy sector is witnessing significant developments as the national environmental authority has approved the environmental impact assessment for a new solar energy initiative. This regulatory milestone allows Qair Montenegro, a subsidiary of Qair International, to proceed with plans for a 60 MW solar plant located in the Nikšić region.
Situated in the village of Petrovići, the solar facility will span approximately 51 hectares and feature over 85,000 solar panels. The project is set to utilize high-efficiency modules provided by Trina Solar. Regulatory authorities have confirmed that the environmental study associated with this project complies with all legal standards and incorporates strategies to minimize potential ecological impacts.
This solar plant is part of a broader strategy by Qair Montenegro to enhance renewable energy investments in the municipality. Another project, known as the Jabuka solar plant, which has a similar capacity, has already secured initial urban planning approval from local government authorities.
Among Qair’s ventures in Montenegro, the Rudine solar power plant stands out as the most advanced project. This 50 MW facility, estimated to cost around 40 million euros, received its environmental permit in early 2025 and has established a network connection agreement with CGES. It is anticipated that this plant will commence operations by late 2028.
