MetaWealth has secured 19 million euros to finance a 50 MW/100 MWh battery energy storage project in Romania. The Dumbrava project is described as the first financed asset within a broader storage portfolio being developed. Construction is underway for the battery energy storage system in Neamt county.

Dumbrava construction and delivery readiness

The Dumbrava battery energy storage system is being built with Parapet Group as the EPC contractor. Commercial operations are scheduled to start in April 2027. The project has obtained grid-connection approval, and its main equipment packages are ready for delivery.

Financing package for the 50 MW project

CEC Bank is providing about 10 million euros via a seven-year senior debt facility. An additional 9 million euros is set to come from sponsor and investor equity. This equity includes 5.5 million euros from the Topolinski family and 3.5 million euros from institutional and private investors participating through MetaWealth Luxembourg and authorised distributors.

Romanian solar expansion alongside storage build-out

The storage build-out is taking place alongside rapid Romanian solar expansion. Around 2.2 GW of solar capacity was installed in 2025. Total solar capacity exceeded 8.5 GW in August 2026, according to figures referenced in the document.
