The Korita wind power project in the municipality of Bijelo Polje has received a significant boost following the Environmental Protection Agency’s approval, marking a key milestone in its development. This project aims to establish a wind farm with a total installed capacity of 72.6 MW, strategically located in the village of Korita.
The environmental impact study conducted for the project successfully met all legal standards and proposed necessary measures to prevent, mitigate, or eliminate potential negative effects on the local ecosystem. Compliance with these measures is mandatory for the investor throughout the construction and operational phases, as well as in the event of any incidents. Continuous environmental monitoring will also be enforced to ensure adherence to these guidelines.
Planned construction will feature 11 turbines situated across various sites, predominantly at altitudes exceeding 1,500 meters, which are optimal for harnessing wind energy. The overall construction area will cover approximately 162 hectares, while the operational footprint of the turbines will occupy around 3.3 hectares.
Additionally, the project includes the construction of a new 400 kV transmission line that will connect the planned Korita substation to the existing Ribarevine switching station, extending about 27.8 kilometers. The Korita site is also designated for a solar power plant, which has already received environmental approval and will include a transformer station to support both the wind farm and the new transmission line.
