JT Grup Oil, a Romanian distributor, has obtained a construction permit for a petroleum-products terminal near Orsova. The project is intended to extend the company’s planned logistics network from the Black Sea to the Danube. The new development will be located at the Tisovita-Dubova port in Mehedinti county.
The facility is planned to include four above-ground liquid-fuel tanks. It will also require supporting equipment and infrastructure for storage and terminal operations. The company’s stated objective is to link the Danube corridor with its existing operations on the Black Sea.
Terminal location and intended supply routes
The Orsova-area terminal and the Black Sea operations are designed to support deliveries within Romania. They are also intended to serve regional markets including Serbia, Hungary, Austria, and Ukraine. The permit reflects the next step in expanding JT Grup Oil’s fuel-logistics footprint across two waterways.
Constanta commissioning and investment timeline
The construction permit arrives as JT Grup Oil prepares to commission its new Constanta terminal. Technological testing has been completed, with commercial operations scheduled to start in October. The Constanta project has received approximately EUR 29.5 million in investment.
Construction on the Constanta project began before JT Grup Oil’s initial public offering in the summer of 2024. With terminals planned on both the Danube and the Black Sea, the company is preparing to increase reliance on maritime and river transport for fuel movements.
