Rompetrol is set to enhance its fuel retail network in Romania with the introduction of 13 new multi-service fuel stations, strategically located in high-traffic areas and major transport corridors. This initiative is part of a broader strategy aimed at bolstering the company’s presence along key roadways and motorways throughout the country.
Construction has commenced on the first six stations, which are expected to be completed by April and open to the public during the summer months. These facilities will serve as multi-service hubs, equipped with multi-product fuel pumps, high-speed dispensers, AdBlue and LPG facilities, as well as four 150 kW electric vehicle (EV) charging points. Each station will feature Rompetrol’s latest retail and service concept, with an average built area of approximately 273 square meters.
Two of the new stations are being constructed on the A3 motorway near Sanpaul in Mureș County, close to Târgu Mureș, and will include extensive parking for both cars and heavy trucks. Another two stations are nearing completion on the Brașov bypass, designed to accommodate both freight and private vehicles. In Suceava County, construction is ongoing for two additional sites: one at the Ipotesti entrance to Suceava on DN2 and another on the city’s ring road in Scheia, which will provide ample parking for local and transit traffic.
Groundwork has also begun for the remaining seven stations in various locations including the Bucharest ring road, Ovidiu (Constanța), Iași, Bacău, Timișoara, along with two sites intended for cross-border traffic with Moldova via the Albita border.
Over the past 15 years, Rompetrol has transformed its stations into integrated energy and mobility centers that combine fuel retailing with electric vehicle charging, digital services, and enhanced customer amenities. Recently, the company launched the Rompetrol EV-Charge app, which allows users to monitor charger availability, charging speeds, and estimated waiting times in real-time.
All new stations will be operated by Rompetrol Downstream, which is the retail division of KMG International in Romania. As of September 2025, Rompetrol’s network consisted of 1,206 sales points supplied exclusively from the Petromidia Năvodari refinery, recognized as the largest refinery in Romania.
