CWP Europe has successfully commissioned a new solar power facility in southern Romania, enhancing the nation’s renewable energy capacity. The 174 MW solar plant, located in the commune of Studina, Olt County, marks a significant step in the country’s transition towards sustainable energy sources.
This solar installation is projected to produce approximately 245,000 MWh of electricity annually, which is sufficient to power over 122,500 households. Additionally, it is expected to prevent around 220,500 tons of CO₂ emissions each year. The project’s total investment details remain undisclosed; however, plans for an adjacent battery energy storage system have been confirmed. This system aims to enhance grid flexibility and support the integration of renewable energy into the national grid.
The development of this facility involved collaboration among several international and regional partners. Siemens Energy played a key role by providing technical support, while SolarPro Holding was responsible for engineering, procurement, and construction. Romanian energy services company Eximprod also contributed significantly to the successful delivery of the plant.
CWP Europe acquired the Studina project in 2023 with an initial target for commercial operations set for the end of 2024. With its commissioning now complete, this facility has become a vital asset for CWP Europe within Romania’s expanding renewable energy landscape.
