Helleniq Energy has installed the first turbine at its 96 MW wind project in Romania’s Galati county, marking the start of the main equipment-assembly phase. The development is located at the Galati wind farm and is moving into the next stage of construction.
Wind project construction status and turbine plan
The Galati wind farm is designed with 15 turbines. Two additional turbines could be installed by mid-August if weather conditions permit. Civil and electrical works are described as well advanced, with all turbine foundations completed. Access roads are in place and the 33 kV cable system has been installed.
Developer, timeline and commissioning target
Helleniq Renewables, the clean-energy subsidiary of Greece’s Helleniq Energy, is developing the wind farm. Commercial operation is planned for 2027. The project’s current milestone follows the start of equipment assembly after the first turbine installation.
Romanian solar additions and wider renewables pipeline
The Galati wind project expands a Romanian portfolio that began generating earlier in 2026. In that period, Helleniq Energy commissioned two solar plants in Teleorman and Olt counties with a combined capacity of 58 MW. A further 153 MW of photovoltaic capacity is expected to enter service during 2026.
Including projects still under development, Helleniq Energy’s Romanian pipeline and operating portfolio exceeds 850 MW across solar, wind and battery storage.
