Electrica produced about 21 GWh of electricity in the first half of 2026, exceeding four times its output from the same period a year earlier. The Romanian energy group attributed the increase to an expanded generation portfolio . Production rose by approximately 338% compared with 4.8 GWh in the first six months of 2025.
Generation output and operating facilities
Electricity generation during the period came from the Stanesti, Vulturu and Satu Mare 2 facilities. Satu Mare 2 entered Electrica’s operating portfolio in the fourth quarter of last year .
Despite the higher generation volumes, Electrica’s output remained small relative to its network and supply activities. Electricity transported through its networks slipped by about 0.5% to 8,905 GWh.
Network transport and retail supply trends
Retail supply declined more sharply than network transport, falling by 9% to 3,376 GWh, down from 3,710 GWh a year earlier. Deliveries in the competitive market were almost unchanged at 2,435 GWh.
The reduction was concentrated in universal service and supplier-of-last-resort activities. Deliveries in those categories dropped by around 26% to 941 GWh.
Consumption points served and customer mix
The number of consumption points served by the group decreased from 3.42 million in June 2025 to 3.23 million in June 2026. Universal-service and last-resort customers accounted for most of the decline, with their number falling from 1.63 million to 1.46 million.
