The Government of the Republic of Srpska is on the verge of a significant decision regarding the coal mining sector, with plans to approve the transfer of mining concession rights from Comsar Energy RS to RiTE Ugljevik. This announcement comes from Energy and Mining Minister Petar Djokic, who indicated that a final decision is expected next week.
Minister Djokic confirmed that the cabinet has been thoroughly informed about the necessary steps taken to facilitate this transfer. A formal request for the transfer has already been submitted, and remaining documentation is anticipated to be finalized within a week. This preparation is crucial for the government to move forward with the approval at its upcoming session.
The process leading up to this point has been lengthy, extending over several months. However, Minister Djokic expressed confidence that the matter will reach a resolution in the next government meeting. Once approved, this decision will officially shift the coal exploitation contract from Comsar Energy RS to RiTE Ugljevik.
According to Minister Djokic, this transfer is expected to enhance coal production conditions significantly for RiTE Ugljevik. He highlighted that the Ugljevik-Istok2 field possesses a more favorable exploitation coefficient compared to other mining sites, which could lead to improved operational efficiency, increased output, and higher quality coal. Internal assessments suggest that access to this deposit would stabilize production and allow for better organization of mining activities than currently experienced.
If approved as anticipated, this transfer will occur exactly one year after similar commitments were made by officials.
