MMK Vilusi has submitted a request for environmental screening for a 35 MW solar power project in western Montenegro, with the development planned for the Nikšić municipality. The application is intended as an early regulatory step in the project’s permitting process. The company is described as recently established and local to Montenegro.

Project footprint and grid connection limits

The proposed Vilusi facility would cover approximately 29 hectares. It would be designed to deliver a maximum output of 30 MW to the electricity network. The project’s equipment is specified to include 52,104 photovoltaic panels. Each panel is rated at 670 W.

Installed capacity versus export ceiling

Based on the panel specifications, the modules would provide approximately 34.9 MW of installed capacity. This figure aligns with the project’s rounded 35 MW rating. The design includes a difference between installed panel capacity and the maximum network output. The generating equipment would have a higher nameplate rating than the stated limit for electricity delivered to the grid.

Environmental assessment screening and next steps

Montenegro’s Environmental Protection Agency will decide whether the development requires a full environmental impact assessment. The filing initiates the screening process and does not constitute approval of an environmental study. It also does not authorise construction to begin.

The next milestone is the agency’s determination of what environmental assessment work is required. That decision would define the tasks needed before the developer can pursue further approvals. Progress for MMK Vilusi will depend on the screening outcome and any additional documentation or conditions requested by authorities.
