Romania has increased gas injections into storage to above 13 million cubic metres per day ahead of winter. The move follows stronger cross-border inflows and a modest rise in domestic production. Storage levels are reported at about 78% full.
Cross-border flows and domestic supply
Gas flows through Kardam/Negru Vodă from Bulgaria have risen to around 14.2 million cubic metres per day, up from about 12 million. Over the same period, Romania’s domestic production has increased to roughly 23.2 million cubic metres per day from 22.2 million. These changes have increased the amount of gas available for storage.
Storage build ahead of winter
With consumption relatively subdued and exports broadly steady, more of the additional supply is directed to storage. Faster injections provide Romania with additional coverage before winter. The cost of building stocks remains exposed to wholesale gas prices.
