IBEX day-ahead and intraday volumes rise in Bulgaria during May 2026

In May 2026, 2,675,874 MWh of electricity was traded on the day-ahead market of the Independent Bulgarian Energy Exchange (IBEX), representing a 4% increase versus the previous month. The average daily traded volume in May reached 86,318.5 MWh. Trading activity in May 2026 was also 20.2% higher compared with the same month last year.

Day-ahead prices and participation on IBEX

The average baseload price on IBEX’s day-ahead market in May stood at 101.07 euros/MWh, up 11% from April’s 90.99 euros/MWh. The average peak price increased to 61.05 euros/MWh, a 6% rise over the previous month. Market participation expanded slightly, with 154 registered participants on the day-ahead market, one more than in April.

Intraday continuous trading volume and weighted price

On the intraday continuous market, total traded volume reached 737,085.6 MWh, an 11% decrease compared with the previous period. The average weighted price rose to 89.44 euros/MWh, up 36.1%.
