Danish renewable energy firm European Energy has divested a 50% interest in the Tsoukes Sarres wind project to the Danish pension fund Sampension. This project, which is currently under development in Greece, consists of a 27 MW onshore wind farm, although specific financial terms of the transaction have not been disclosed.

This strategic move underscores European Energy’s approach to optimizing its capital allocation by divesting from mature projects to finance new renewable initiatives across Europe. By partially exiting certain assets, the company aims to enhance its growth trajectory in wind, solar, and hybrid energy sectors across various markets.

Construction at the Tsoukes Sarres site commenced in September 2024, with plans for commissioning in the first half of 2026. Upon completion, the facility will include six wind turbines that will deliver electricity directly into Greece’s national transmission system, contributing to the country’s renewable energy goals.

The transaction further solidifies the collaboration between European Energy and Sampension, who have previously partnered on several projects, including a recent joint venture involving a 50% stake in a 111 MW solar-plus-storage initiative in Latvia. European Energy is actively expanding its global renewables portfolio, which currently encompasses approximately 65 GW, with a particular focus on enhancing onshore wind capacity and increasing its solar project offerings in Greece.
