Elektroprivreda Srbije (EPS) has announced a net profit of €129 million for the first quarter of 2026, surpassing both its internal forecasts and the performance from the same quarter last year. This financial success is attributed to a combination of stable electricity generation, reduced operating costs, and ongoing restructuring initiatives within the utility.
During this period, significant progress was made in Serbia’s energy infrastructure, as highlighted by Minister of Mining and Energy Dubravka Đedović Handanović. A key achievement was the comprehensive modernization of the pumped-storage hydropower plant HPP Bajina Bašta, which underwent its first full overhaul in over forty years. This upgrade is expected to enhance the plant’s operational reliability and flexibility, crucial for meeting fluctuating energy demands.
Additionally, the completion of a flue gas desulfurization system at TENT B marks a pivotal moment for environmental investment in the region’s energy sector. This project is anticipated to significantly lower emissions and ensure compliance with stricter environmental regulations, reflecting a broader commitment to sustainability within Serbia’s power generation landscape.
The overall results underscore EPS’s focus on enhancing operational efficiency and investing in critical infrastructure upgrades. These developments not only bolster the utility’s financial health but also align with Serbia’s strategic objectives for energy modernization and environmental responsibility.
