Končar Group has solidified its role in Slovenia’s energy sector by signing a new contract with the Krško nuclear power plant. This agreement focuses on the supply of replacement electric motors essential for the plant’s cooling and water pumping systems, part of an ongoing modernization and maintenance initiative aimed at enhancing operational reliability and safety.
This latest contract builds on a previous agreement from last year, which involved the provision of motors for feedwater pump systems. The continuity of these agreements underscores the strengthening partnership between Končar and the Krško facility.
As part of this new deal, Končar will produce reserve motors for cooling tower pumps, each boasting a capacity of 2,000 kW. These will replace older units originally manufactured by Končar. Additionally, the contract includes new motors for circulating water pumps rated at 1,471 kW, which are set to substitute equipment previously supplied by Westinghouse Electric Company.
Končar’s involvement in the Slovenian energy landscape extends beyond nuclear power. The company has played a significant role in various hydropower projects across Slovenia over the years, including HPP Boštanj, HPP Blanca, HPP Brežice, and modernization efforts at HPP Zlatoličje, HPP Doblar, and HPP Plave. Earlier this year, Končar also secured a contract to upgrade the control system at HPP Boštanj.
On a global scale, Končar Group exports its products and services to approximately 140 countries, generating around €1.3 billion in revenue last year and achieving a net profit exceeding €220 million. Notably, international markets accounted for about 68% of total sales, highlighting the company’s robust export orientation.
In an indication of its growing market presence, Končar reported securing around €585 million in new orders during the first quarter of 2026 alone. This surge in export activities now constitutes over 72% of total revenues, reflecting ongoing growth in foreign markets and large-scale energy infrastructure projects.
