Croatian GO auctions clear 312,171 certificates across wind, solar, biomass and biogas

CROPEX auctions sell 312,171 guarantees of origin

A total of 312,171 guarantees of origin (GOs) were sold through six auctions on the CROPEX trading platform. With one guarantee typically representing 1 MWh of qualifying electricity, the transactions covered environmental attributes attached to more than 312 GWh of renewable generation.

The largest volume came from Croatian energy-market operator HROTE, which offered 244,413 wind guarantees for electricity produced in the second quarter of 2026. Those certificates cleared at €1.42 per GO.

HROTE also sold 39,366 biomass guarantees at €1.33 per GO. Combined, the two HROTE auctions accounted for almost 91% of the total volume sold.

ENNA Next and smaller categories set clearing prices

ENNA Next sold 22,698 Croatian wind guarantees covering March through May at €1.33 per GO. The company also sold 2,669 guarantees from German wind plants at €1.46 per GO, the highest clearing price among the disclosed categories.

Other transactions included 1,174 solar guarantees at €1.36, 1,012 biomass guarantees at €1.31, and 136 biogas guarantees at €1.12. Koer additionally sold 703 solar guarantees covering June generation at €1.31 per certificate.

The clearing prices stayed within a relatively narrow band, generally between €1.31 and €1.46/MWh. German wind certificates cleared slightly above Croatian wind, while solar traded close to the main wind and biomass products.

Croatian GO pricing and implications for buyers and producers

The pricing indicates that guarantees of origin function as a supplementary revenue stream rather than a central element of project economics. A wind project selling certificates at €1.42/MWh would earn about €142,000 for every 100 GWh of eligible annual production.

The certificates’ value for industrial consumers depends on traceability and commercial details including production period, technology and location. Their integration into broader carbon-accounting and contractual structures is also a factor.

The complete sale of the offered volume reflects continued corporate demand for renewable attributes. The auction results also provide a benchmark for Croatian producers deciding whether to sell certificates independently, bundle them with physical electricity or include them in power-purchase agreements.
