Total hydropower production in Southeast Europe increased in the 11th week (March 13 – 19) compared to the previous week, mainly as a result of heavy rainfall in Turkey.

Hydropower production in Turkey increased to 1.47 TWh, which is 475 GWh more than the previous week.

The total contribution of hydropower plants in the SEE region increased by 19 percent, to 2.78 GWh. In most markets in the region, higher hydropower production was registered, except in Croatia and Romania, which recorded a drop in production by 5 percent and 10 percent, respectively, compared to the 10th week.

Greece and Italy recorded the highest production growth in hydroelectric power plants during the 11th week, by 16 percent and 3 percent, respectively, to a total of 18 GWh and 356 GWh, as a result of more abundant rainfall.

The production of electricity in the thermal power plants in the region decreased compared to the 10th week, to the greatest extent due to the decrease in the production of electricity in the gas power plants. As a consequence, thermal energy production in SEE decreased by 8 percent and amounted to a total of 6.65 TWh.
