The Romanian energy landscape is set to undergo significant transformation with the announcement of a new solar power and battery storage project spearheaded by ALFI and Kraftfeld Energy. This collaboration, known as PVP Cygnus, aims to establish a substantial 126 MW solar power plant complemented by a 200 MWh battery storage system, marking a pivotal step in the region’s renewable energy efforts.
This initiative is particularly noteworthy as it represents the largest investment to date for Slovenia’s ALFI Green Energy Fund, which holds a 65% majority stake in the venture. The remaining equity is held by Austria’s Kraftfeld Energy. The project has successfully secured financing of approximately 90 million euros through Raiffeisen Bank International, which is facilitating the funding process.
Construction activities are already underway, with expectations for the facility to achieve full operational capacity by early 2027. This timeline aligns with broader trends in the energy sector, where integrated renewable generation and storage solutions are increasingly in demand.
