192 MW first phase in Buzău County

Rezolv Energy has commissioned the 192 MW first phase of its Vifor wind farm in Romania. The project is located in Buzău County. Commissioning brings the initial tranche into operating generation. A second phase is scheduled for completion in 2027.

Turbine configuration and planned expansion

The Buzău County development uses 30 Vestas V162 EnVentus turbines, each rated at 6.4 MW. With the second phase completed in 2027, total capacity would increase to 461 MW. The commissioning of the first phase marks the start of generation for that portion of the investment.

Corporate PPAs and long-term offtake volumes

Vifor has secured six long-term corporate power purchase agreements covering more than 350 GWh annually. The counterparties include T-Mobile Czech Republic, Slovak Telekom, CE Colo Czech Republic, Bekaert, A2A and Etem Gestamp. These agreements support long-term demand for electricity from the wind farm.

Project financing for phases one and two

The first phase obtained financing of up to €291 million from eight lenders. The financing was led by Erste Group, UniCredit Group and the EBRD, with IFC, Intesa Sanpaolo, OTP Bank, Raiffeisen Bank International and Garanti BBVA Romania also participating.

A further financing package of up to €331 million has been secured for the second phase. Completion of the remaining capacity in 2027 would expand Vifor’s contribution to Romania’s wind capacity growth targets.

Romania’s wind capacity target context

Romania’s installed wind capacity remains slightly above 3 GW. The national target is 7.3 GW by 2030. The commissioning of Vifor’s first phase adds capacity within a market that has seen limited expansion over the past decade.
