Energy cooperation between the Republic of Srpska (RS) and Russia is set to continue after talks in St. Petersburg, where officials agreed to extend the existing natural gas supply arrangement. The agreement is intended to provide continuity for future supply planning under the current framework.
Meeting outcomes between Gazprom and RS officials
The announcement followed a meeting between Gazprom CEO Alexey Miller and Milorad Dodik. Participants reviewed current cooperation in the gas sector and discussed opportunities for further collaboration.
Gazprom said the parties reached an agreement to prolong the contract governing Russian natural gas deliveries to RS. The extension covers deliveries under the existing contractual setup, as described by Gazprom.
Pricing conditions for continued deliveries
Dodik later said discussions also addressed pricing conditions for RS gas supply. He confirmed that RS would continue to receive gas under favorable commercial terms.
Dodik added that the current pricing framework is expected to remain in effect beyond the existing contract period and be extended for the coming year. The talks therefore covered both delivery continuity and the commercial terms applied to supplies.
Long-term cooperation focus
Beyond supply and pricing, the meeting focused on the long-term outlook for energy cooperation between RS and Gazprom. Both sides examined future opportunities to strengthen partnerships in the natural gas sector.
The talks also included consideration of support for regional energy requirements, according to information from the discussions. The agreement was described as reinforcing Russian natural gas’s role within RS’s energy mix while maintaining a basis for continued cooperation.
