Croatia’s electricity exchange, CROPEX, recorded 1,454,482 MWh of trading in October 2026, 6.7% more than in September. The average day-ahead baseload price increased 31.2% to €226.66/MWh. Aggregate turnover was 0.3% above October 2025, a much smaller change than the month-on-month price increase.
Day-ahead trading totalled 957,833 MWh, while the intraday market handled 496,649 MWh, or about 34% of all traded energy. Average daily day-ahead turnover was 30,897.8 MWh. Intraday trading enabled within-day adjustments alongside conventional day-ahead procurement and sales.
The average peak price reached €220.46/MWh, up 53.2% from September, while the average intraday price rose 31.1% to €229.98/MWh. Such price movements can affect purchasing costs, hedging requirements and generation revenues, even when traded demand is relatively stable.
CROPEX market development
CROPEX has operated its day-ahead trading market since March 2016 and launched its intraday market in April 2017. The day-ahead market was coupled across the Croatian-Slovenian border in June 2018, bringing domestic price formation into closer alignment with interconnected European trading conditions. The October figures highlight the commercial relevance of hourly procurement, cross-border trading access and short-term forecasting as volatility moves through the regional electricity market.
