In Slovenia, Croatian power exchange CROPEX has begun operating in the day-ahead market, extending its activity beyond Croatia’s bidding zone. Trading started on October 21 under Slovenia’s Multi-NEMO Arrangement and the European Single Day-Ahead Coupling framework. The move comes as competition grows across Europe’s coupled electricity market.
Existing and new CROPEX members can now trade in both the Croatian and Slovenian bidding zones. The launch followed several months of technical, contractual and operational preparations. CROPEX has operated in Croatia for more than a decade.
Expansion into Slovenia
Entry into Slovenia marks a step in CROPEX’s regional expansion and gives market participants another route to the Slovenian wholesale market. The exchange is also preparing to enter Slovenia’s intraday market through the Single Intraday Coupling project. Power exchanges across Central and Southeast Europe are increasingly competing across national borders while remaining integrated through European market-coupling mechanisms.
