On April 28, Croatia’s recent auction for guarantees of origin (GOs) saw a remarkable total of 313,162 GOs sold, facilitated by HROTE and ENNA Next. This event was notable for its organization into six parallel sessions, where GOs from various renewable sources—wind, biogas, biomass, and solar—were traded via the CROPEX trading platform.
The majority of the sales were driven by wind energy, with HROTE selling 258,578 GOs from wind power plants for electricity generated in the first quarter of 2026 at a price of 1.32 €/GO. Additionally, 30,483 GOs from biomass plants for the same production period were sold at 1.26 €/GO, underscoring the significant role of wind assets in this auction.
ENNA Next contributed to the auction with a range of smaller but diverse batches of GOs. This included 15,026 GOs from Croatian wind facilities (for production in January and February 2026) priced at 1.30 €/GO, alongside 8,082 GOs sourced from German wind power plants (also for Q1 2026) which commanded a higher price of 1.45 €/GO. This pricing indicates a stronger market valuation for imported renewable certificates.
The auction also featured additional sales comprising 360 GOs from biogas plants, 296 GOs from solar facilities, and 337 GOs from biomass plants. All these certificates were produced between December 2025 and February 2026 and were sold at a uniform price of 1.22 €/GO.
The results from this auction reflect a robust demand for renewable-backed certificates within Croatia’s energy market. The dominance of wind energy in trading volumes highlights its critical position in the country’s renewable energy landscape, while the observed price variations across different technologies and geographical sources reveal diverse market perceptions regarding the value of renewable origins.
