Potential equity investment in Serbia’s 854 MW wind portfolio
Windey is targeting an equity stake in Fintel’s Serbian wind portfolio with a total capacity of 854 MW. China’s Windey Energy is also considering direct equity investment in Fintel Energia Group’s Maestrale Ring wind project in Serbia. The discussions would expand Windey’s role from turbine supplier to prospective project owner. No investment amount, equity percentage, or final transaction structure has been disclosed.
Strategic agreement links Maestrale Ring with other Fintel assets
The companies’ new strategic agreement covers possible Windey investment in Maestrale Ring and other Fintel assets. It includes around 110 MW already under construction. The partnership builds on an earlier turbine-supply agreement between the parties.
Modular AI data centres near Fintel substations
The agreement also includes potential modular AI data centres near Fintel substations. The cooperation would be tied to the same broader framework as the potential equity component. The proposed data-centre activity could create local electricity demand close to new generation and grid infrastructure.
Implications for Serbia’s wind build-out and electricity market needs
Maestrale Ring, at 854 MW, would materially increase Serbia’s wind fleet if fully developed. The project would add to balancing and transmission requirements as renewable penetration rises. The proposed data-centre cooperation could reduce reliance on pure merchant power sales by supporting demand near new generation and grid works. The agreement nevertheless marks a shift in Windey’s Serbian strategy from selling turbines towards sharing development and electricity-market risk.
