CROPEX was established on 11 March 2016 in cooperation with Nord Pool, Europe’s leading electricity exchange, and is co-owned by the Croatian electricity transmission system operator (HOPS) and the Croatian electricity market operator (HROTE). The intraday market was introduced in April 2017. Since 19 June 2018, CROPEX’s day-ahead market has been successfully coupled with the Market Coupling Region (MRC) markets through the Croatian-Slovenian border, following a joint project between the Croatian and Slovenian transmission system operators and power exchanges.
