The average daily traded volume during this period was 96,004 MWh. Notably, despite the drop compared to January, February’s trading volume surpassed the same month last year by 3.9%, highlighting some resilience in year-on-year performance.
The decline in trading volume coincided with a significant reduction in market prices. The average baseload price on the day-ahead market fell to 99.57 euros/MWh, which represents a substantial 33% drop from January’s average of 148.55 euros/MWh. Additionally, the average peak price decreased to 103.52 euros/MWh, reflecting a 40% decline over the same timeframe. The stability in participation was evident, as the number of registered participants remained unchanged at 150.
<pOn the intraday continuous market, trading activity also experienced a downturn. A total of 552,646.1 MWh was traded, marking a 17% decline compared to January. The average weighted intraday price saw a notable decrease as well, falling to 92.53 euros/MWh, which is down by 41% from the previous month.
The observed trends in both day-ahead and intraday markets suggest a tightening of market conditions in Bulgaria’s electricity sector for February 2026. These developments may prompt further analysis among stakeholders regarding supply-demand dynamics and pricing strategies moving forward.
