ICE front-month Brent crude futures settled at a weekly high of $108.75/bbl on Tuesday, September 15. AleaSoft Energy Forecasting data show the level was the highest settlement since May 20. Prices later eased to a weekly low of $103.87/bbl on Friday, September 18, down 0.7% from the previous Friday.
During the third week of September, Brent remained above $100/bbl. The market was supported by the war between the United States and Iran and severe restrictions on oil transit through the Strait of Hormuz. Drone attacks that damaged Saudi Arabia’s East-West oil pipeline lifted prices to the September 15 weekly high, up 2.9% versus the prior session.
Brent moved lower after Saudi Arabia announced plans to route additional crude through Oman and the Strait of Hormuz. That update came ahead of the weekly low reached on September 18. The shift reduced concerns about disruptions to Saudi oil supplies.
TTF natural gas trends around mid-September storage levels
Front-month TTF natural gas futures on ICE posted a weekly settlement high of €82.57/MWh on Monday, September 14. AleaSoft Energy Forecasting said this was the highest level since December 30, 2022. Prices then declined through Thursday, September 17, when they reached a weekly low of €76.35/MWh.
After a 4.1% rise from the previous session, the settlement price increased to €79.52/MWh on Friday, September 18. That level matched the settlement recorded the previous Friday. The week’s moves coincided with constraints on LNG supplies from the Persian Gulf.
AleaSoft also pointed to strong demand in Asia, which increased competition for available LNG cargoes. EU gas storage facilities were around 68% full in mid-September, compared with a five-year average of 84%. The end of a strike at France’s Dunkirk LNG terminal contributed to the weekly price low seen on Thursday.

The contract moved back above €86/t during the final two sessions of the week. On Friday, September 18, the settlement price rose to €86.89/t, up 1.6% from the previous Friday, AleaSoft reports.
