The Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina (FBiH) has initiated the next phase in the environmental review process for the Gradina wind farm, which is projected to generate up to 100 MW of renewable energy capacity. This development is located near Tomislavgrad and represents a significant step towards enhancing the region’s renewable energy infrastructure.
On June 1, 2026, a public hearing will be conducted regarding the preliminary environmental impact assessment, as announced by the Federal Ministry of Environment and Tourism. This hearing is crucial for advancing the formal permitting process necessary for the project’s progression.
The wind farm is strategically situated on the Midena mountain plateau, positioned south of the Tomislavgrad–Livno M6.1 road. The site has been recognized as a vital wind resource zone, with elevations ranging from approximately 1,010 to 1,070 meters above sea level, making it an optimal location for harnessing wind energy.
The project documentation outlines plans for the installation of 17 wind turbines along with essential infrastructure. This includes access roads, operational platforms, a 35 kV internal medium-voltage network, telecommunications systems, a 220/33 kV transformer station, and a high-voltage transmission connection line to facilitate energy distribution.
VE Gradina, based in Tomislavgrad, is spearheading the investment and holds the concession rights for wind resource utilization in this area. As the official project developer, VE Gradina is tasked with overseeing the implementation of this significant renewable energy initiative.
Preparatory activities related to environmental assessments commenced earlier, with preliminary documentation made accessible for public scrutiny in October 2025. This marked the initiation of a structured environmental approval process that is critical for ensuring compliance with regulatory standards.
