Albania: Electricity export reached 904 GWh in Q1

Electricity production in Albania in the first quarter of 2023 amounted to 2,016 GWh, according to the Albanian Institute of Statistics. That is 38% higher compared to the same period in 2022 (2 TWh).

Albanian electricity exports more than doubled in Q1, amounting to 904 GWh, compared to 373 GWh in the same period in 2022. At the same time, electricity imports dropped to 246 GWh from 715 GWh.

In the first three months, 99.4% of electricity was generated by hydropower plants. Electricity network losses decreased to 533.5 GWh in January-March 2023 from last year’s 582.7 GWh.
