Slovenia has extended the application deadline for its €68.97 million electricity distribution investment programme to 30 November 2026. The previous deadline was 31 October, and the funding allocation remains unchanged. The extension is intended to give applicants additional time to complete technical documentation.
Funding split and programme scope
The programme is backed by European funds of approximately €51.1 million, with around €17.9 million provided from Slovenia’s national budget. It will support upgrades to distribution substations and transformer stations, as well as low- and medium-voltage networks. The stated objective is to accommodate additional generation and consumption while improving flexibility.
Ministry rationale for the extended deadline
The Infrastructure and Energy Ministry said the deadline extension should allow applicants to submit more fully prepared proposals. Distribution investment has become increasingly significant as rooftop solar, electric vehicles and changing consumption patterns place new demands on local networks. Connection capacity can affect whether renewable and electrification projects proceed on schedule.
Additional time for technical documentation
For applicants, the extra month provides time to strengthen project design and supporting documentation. The commercial benefit will depend on how quickly approved investments create usable capacity at locations where new connections are needed.
