Project Blue in Albania is planned as a solar and storage development with a target of 349 MW of photovoltaic capacity across two stages. Sungrow has been selected to supply battery equipment for the first phase of the project. The announcement did not disclose financial terms or a commissioning date.

First-stage solar and battery configuration

The initial stage combines 185 MW of solar capacity with 130 MWh of battery storage. Sungrow’s contract covers 26 PowerTitan 2.0 battery units and 13 MVS3460-LS transformer units. The equipment agreement advances procurement for this first stage.

Planned expansion and total storage capacity

A second phase is planned to add 164 MW of solar capacity. It also includes an 80 MW/180 MWh battery system, bringing combined storage capacity to 310 MWh. The announcement did not provide additional details on timing for the expansion.

Developers and role of storage in operations

The project is being developed in southwestern Albania by Matrix Konstruksion and Blessed Investment Group, which describe it as the country’s largest privately developed solar plant. The developers said storage would enable shifting part of plant output away from solar generation hours and provide greater control over delivery. They added that commercial benefits would depend on operating restrictions, battery efficiency, and the price difference between charging and discharging periods.
