Solar photovoltaic trends week of June 22
Solar photovoltaic generation rose across most major European electricity markets during the week of June 22 compared with the previous week. Germany recorded the largest increase at 16%, while Spain posted a marginal rise of 0.5%. Both markets extended their growth trend for a second consecutive week.
France added 2.5%, marking a third straight week of continuous growth. By contrast, Italy fell by 5.1%, and Portugal declined by 22%. The declines reversed the upward direction seen in the prior two weeks.
New solar records in Germany and Spain
During the same period, Germany and Spain reached new solar production records. On June 24, Germany recorded its highest solar photovoltaic output ever for a June day, reaching 489 GWh. That figure also represented the second-highest daily total in Germany’s history.
Spain set an all-time solar record on June 26, producing 267 GWh in a single day. The data were linked to continued expansion of solar capacity and favorable weather conditions across the Iberian Peninsula.
AleaSoft forecasts for late June and early July wind and solar
AleaSoft Energy Forecasting expects that in the week of June 29, solar production will increase in Italy. The same forecast points to declines in output for Germany and Spain.
Wind power showed a different pattern over the last week of June, with increases across most European markets. Portugal led with a rise of 54%, followed by France at 32% and Spain at 23%. Meanwhile, Italy and Germany recorded their second consecutive weekly declines of 10% and 40%, respectively.
AleaSoft reports that forecasts for the first week of July indicate a general rebound in wind energy production across the main European electricity markets under analysis. The outlook suggests stronger wind conditions after the recent period of mixed performance.
