July generation mix and overall net production
Slovenia’s net electricity production fell by 9% year on year in July 2026, with lower hydropower and thermal generation offsetting continued growth in wind and solar. Total net production reached 996 GWh, which was also 13% lower than in June, according to figures cited from the Statistical Office of the Republic of Slovenia. SEE-
Thermal power generation dropped by 41% year on year to 47 GWh. Hydropower output declined by 35% to 212 GWh. Output from the Krško nuclear power plant decreased by 2%, reaching 497 GWh.
Wind and solar generation moved in the opposite direction, with combined output rising by 30% to 240 GWh. The July figures show the balance between conventional generation and renewables within Slovenia’s monthly production totals.
Cross-border flows and electricity demand
The weaker domestic generation balance was reflected in cross-border electricity flows. Slovenia imported 1.035 TWh, around 1% more than in July 2025, while exports fell by 15% to 897 GWh.
Household electricity consumption reached 234 GWh, up 1% from June. Commercial consumers used 618 GWh, representing a 4% increase on the month.
Energysupply changes linked to fuel availability
The wider energy-supply data also weakened compared with June. Heating-oil supply fell by 40%, LPG dropped by 16%, hard coal decreased by 2%, and natural-gas supply declined by 2%.
On an annual basis, heating-oil supply was down by 53%, LPG fell by 34%, hard coal decreased by 19%, kerosene was down by 16%, and natural gas declined by 8%.
The July data also points to continued exposure to hydrological conditions. Higher renewable output from wind and solar helped partly compensate for declines in conventional generation, while reduced hydro production and lower thermal availability left Slovenia more reliant on imported electricity.
