Serbia: Fortis Energy buys 180 MW solar and energy storage project

Turkish company Fortis Energy has announced the acquisition of a 180 MW solar project with an integrated Battery Energy Storage System (BESS) in Sremska Mitrovica, Serbia. This solar park, which will also feature an energy storage system, is set to become one of the largest of its kind in Southeast Europe.

The project includes a 36 MW/h BESS, designed to store and manage electricity, enhancing the reliability and integration of renewable energy sources into the network. Construction is planned to start in 2025.

Fortis Energy’s investment underscores its ongoing commitment to advancing the energy transition. The acquisition enhances its extensive and adaptable renewable energy portfolio across the Balkans and Turkey, solidifying its position as a key provider of flexibility solutions in the European market.
