The Government of North Macedonia said that it had decided to increase the excise duty on petroleum products by 0.049 euros per liter. The additional funds collected this way will be used to finance support measures for the economy and citizens during the coronavirus outbreak.
The statement from the Government said that, taking into consideration the fall of petroleum products prices of about 0.32 euros since the beginning of the year, there are prerequisites to introduce this measure, namely to increase the excise duty as an anti-crisis measure in the fight against COVID-19.
With the latest increase, the excise duty on petrol will rise to 0.4 euros/liter and to 0.29 euros/liter for diesel.
