A new solar power facility in Kiskunhalas, Hungary, has commenced commercial operations, contributing an additional 40 MW to the nation’s renewable energy capacity. This project, developed by SSI Invest and backed by the Trustify Impact I private equity fund, aligns with Hungary’s regulatory framework that maintains confidentiality regarding beneficial ownership structures.
Covering approximately 84 hectares, the solar plant is equipped with over 70,000 solar panels. It is expected to generate around 64.3 GWh of electricity annually at peak performance. Furthermore, the project includes plans for a 40 MWh battery energy storage system, with construction slated to start in the summer of 2026, contingent upon obtaining the necessary construction permit.
The financing for this initiative was facilitated through the Baross Gabor Capital Program of the Ministry of National Economy. This program effectively combines 70% public funding with 30% private investment, demonstrating Hungary’s commitment to advancing its sustainable energy infrastructure and enhancing energy security.
