During the week of April 21, solar photovoltaic energy production saw increases across all major European electricity markets, reversing the declines observed the previous week. The Portuguese market experienced the highest growth, rising by 62%, followed by Italy and Spain, with increases of 38% and 33%, respectively. The German market saw the lowest growth at 10%, while France registered an 11% increase.

In the fourth week of April, several European markets set new records for solar photovoltaic energy production. On April 22, Italy reached its second-highest generation level in history with 141 GWh, following the record set on April 11. On the same day, Portugal achieved its highest solar production for an April month, with 22 GWh. The following day, April 23, saw Spain break its April solar generation record, reaching 197 GWh. Finally, on April 28, Germany registered its highest-ever solar production for April, with 397 GWh.

Looking ahead to the week of April 28, AleaSoft Energy Forecasting predicts that solar energy production will increase in Germany but decrease in Spain and Italy compared to the previous week.

Wind energy production, however, decreased across major European markets in the fourth week of April. Portugal experienced the largest decline, down by 58%, followed by Italy and Spain with reductions of 53% and 45%, respectively. These declines reversed the growth trend seen in the previous week. France showed the smallest decrease, at 19%, while Germany saw a 39% reduction. Both France and Germany continued their downward trends for the third consecutive week.

According to AleaSoft Energy Forecasting’s wind energy forecasts, wind production is expected to increase in the Iberian and German markets, while it will decline in France and Italy, AleaSoft reports.
