The Croatian electricity transmission system operator, HOPS, has announced an upcoming auction aimed at procuring electricity necessary to address transmission system losses. This initiative will utilize the CROPEX trading platform, inviting participation from all stakeholders within the electricity market.

The auction is scheduled for 19 May, taking place between 11:00 and 12:00 CET. It will focus on securing electricity for a defined delivery period extending from 1 January 2027 to 31 December 2027.

During this period, HOPS plans to procure a total of 43,800 MWh of electricity, which will be delivered at a consistent rate of 5 MWh/h every day. This delivery will occur continuously throughout the week, ensuring coverage from Monday to Sunday, around the clock.

This auction reflects Croatia’s ongoing efforts to enhance the stability and reliability of its electricity transmission system. By addressing transmission losses through strategic procurement, HOPS aims to maintain operational efficiency and support the overall integrity of the national grid.

The importance of this auction lies in its potential impact on market dynamics, as it provides an opportunity for various market participants to engage in the procurement process. The results may influence future electricity pricing and availability in the region.
